Keren, I read your review, and I could not help thinking that maybe if seen on a large screen in a real theatre, the movie would have looked different to you.
Sometimes those "artistic" scenes are better tolerated when they come in full size
I say this, because Yesterday I saw some of Lord Of The Rings in DVD. It looks so much less impressive. ("so much less" - well english IS my second langauge...)
Did you know that I actually saw the original Insomnia? It was playing in the Haifa film festival of 1997. I saw it on a midnight (Chatzot) and I was very tired during the film. I remeber that It made me feel very uneasy, but I can not remeber the plot almost at all! I wonder how it will be for me to see it "again" now.

Oh and the link to the real NightMute made me feel like visiting this Eskimo village...
There are still Eskimos out there... that is interesting.
